Gearbox has detailed the latest changes for Borderlands 4, highlighted by the release of the Version 1.9 update on July 30, new Bounty Pack details, and a teaser for upcoming narrative content.
Quick Facts
- Version 1.9 adds two new Pearlescent guns (Vault Guardian Radix, Subjugator) and one new Legendary gun (Ordonite Generator).
- Eight previously released Pearlescent items now have dedicated drop sources, alongside reduced world drop rates.
- Bounty Pack 4: Murders and Acquisitions features a repeatable mission, one new Pearlescent weapon, and six new Legendary gear pieces.
- Story Pack 2: FL4K and the Last Resort is scheduled to launch on September 10.
Version 1.9 Changes and Dedicated Drops
The Version 1.9 update adjusts gear acquisition by tying eight previously introduced Pearlescent items to specific boss encounters. To balance these additions, general world drop rates for these items have been decreased.
Players can now farm specific targets for particular gear:
- Solar Temper: Timekeeper
- Locust: Idolator Sol
- Unkempt Herald: Vault Guardian Inceptus
- Juliets Sparkle: Callis
- Abyss: Vile Lictor
- Screwstonian: Vault Guardian Origo
- Constable: Bloomreaper
- Gomie: Thol
Additionally, the update introduces the Vault Guardian Radix and Subjugator Pearlescent guns, as well as the Ordonite Generator Legendary gun dropped by Activity bosses.
Bounty Pack 4 and Upcoming Content
Bounty Pack 4: Murders and Acquisitions centers on a new alliance between the Electi and a pacifist Ripper commune called The Flock, who are dealing with a hostile group known as The Blasphemers in the Toxic Scowl canyon. The DLC consists of a repeatable mission and Vault Card 4 rewards, available via bundle editions or individual purchase for base game owners.
Looking ahead, Gearbox shared a teaser for Story Pack 2: FL4K and the Last Resort. Set on a volcanic jungle resort invaded by the Tediore corporation, the September 10 release follows the returning beastmaster as they track down their missing skag companion, Mr. Chew.
