Team Asano is not currently ready to announce a third major entry in the Octopath Traveler series. While the developer is aware of significant fan interest following the eight-year anniversary of the franchise, producer Tomoya Asano indicated that the studio is intentionally holding back.
Addressing the future of the series in a recent chat with Dengeki Online, Asano noted that the team feels pressure to meet high expectations. Having already reached seven million copies sold across the series, the developers want to ensure any future project is ambitious. Asano stated, "If we're going to do it, we're going to push the limits" and confirmed that the team "cannot simply release something half-baked."
