A major free update for Pokémon Pokopia arrives on Nintendo Switch this Wednesday, August 5, 2026. The patch introduces a long-requested quality-of-life feature: a shared storage system.

Shared Storage and New Features

The new storage unit allows players to manage up to 140 items. Once placed, these bins function across regions; items deposited in a bin in one area, such as the Withered Wasteland, can be retrieved from any other storage bin placed in a different region, like the new Bubbly Basin.

Alongside the storage update, the patch includes several gameplay additions:

  • Underwater traversal: Ditto receives a new ability allowing players to explore underwater.
  • Underwater actions: Players can now use moves including Rollout, Rototiller, Rock Smash, and Leafage while submerged.
  • New content: The game will see the addition of Wiglett and Mareanie, along with new items such as frameless glass and an underwater electricity generator.

Expansion Pass Details

The update coincides with the launch of Pokémon Pokopia's first paid DLC, Bubbly Basin. Access to this new region is restricted to players who purchase the $35 expansion pass. However, the update's functional changes, including the shared storage and the Dive ability, are included in the free base game update for all users.
