Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold another 3.82 million units, bringing its total lifetime sales to 23.68 million consoles. This milestone, revealed in Nintendo's latest financial results, pushes the platform past the lifetime sales of the Nintendo GameCube in just over a year and 25 days on the market.
By comparison, the GameCube sold 21.74 million units over its entire five-year lifespan. While the GameCube's software library reached 208.58 million total game sales, Switch 2 games currently stand at 58.17 million sold.
Following its launch, the hardware quickly became the fastest-selling game hardware device in US history and took seven months to surpass the Wii U's lifetime sales. The next hardware sales milestone for the Nintendo Switch 2 is the Nintendo 64, which requires an additional 9.25 million units sold to match.
Players awaiting upcoming software releases can look to the 2026 release schedule for the platform, though future hardware purchases may be impacted by an upcoming Switch 2 price increase.
