Deltarune Chapter 5 launched on Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 late last month, and developer Toby Fox is already moving to polish the experience. While the latest update, version 0.0.247, has already rolled out on Steam and PlayStation, Switch players will have to wait just a little longer to receive the same fixes.
Fox confirmed via Bluesky that the patch has been submitted to the Nintendo eShop and will go live as soon as it is approved. The update includes a variety of technical fixes and even adds a small piece of new content: an obscure, secret piece of dialogue hidden within the shop in the Cliffs.
Full Patch Notes: Version 0.0.247
The upcoming update aims to clean up several lingering issues from the initial launch. Here is the full list of changes provided by the developer:
Game Changes
- You will no longer receive the JusticeAxe from the hole in CastleTown cliff if you never obtained the Shadow Crystal in Chapter 4 on that file slot.
- Grazing bullets from an aqua miniboss no longer erroneously extends the duration of the attack.
- Fixed an error where the bread-smashing time attack failed to display a 0 digit correctly.
- Fixed an issue where armor intended to increase invincibility frames failed to function against the chapter boss.
- Resolved various memory leaks that were triggering random crashes on PlayStation 4.
- Fixed a softlock that occurred when using Rude Buster during the first phase of the platforming battle preceding the chapter boss.
- Fixed an error that caused scissors to stop dealing damage after a specific event.
- Fixed an issue where the SOUL would visually remain in the birdcage if the chapter's first scene was skipped in a specific way.
- Fixed various circumstances where textboxes could overlap or allow players to walk around with the menu still open.
- Fixed graphical issues, including train blueprints hovering in mid-air, along with other minor fixes.
Text and Credits
- The shop in the Cliffs now features new dialogue in an extremely obscure circumstance.
- Credits have been updated to include Matt Cummings (Festival Concept Art), Zu Ehtisham (Platforming VFX), and Marcy Nabors (Music Assistance).
- The manual in Castle Town now correctly mentions Susie's SCYTHEMARE.
- Various minor text fixes have been applied.
While the chapter has received a mixed reception as a standalone entry, these fixes should ensure a smoother experience for players as they progress through the latest content. We will be monitoring the eShop for the update's arrival on both Nintendo hybrid systems in the coming days.
