Resident Evil Requiem has made a significant impact since its launch, drawing players back into the series with its signature dark atmosphere and intense survival horror gameplay. However, it turns out the game’s protagonist, Leon S. Kennedy, nearly had a moment of levity that didn't make the final cut.
Nick Apostolides, the voice actor behind Leon, recently opened up about his performance in the 2026 title. During a reflection on his time with the character, Apostolides revealed that Capcom decided to remove what would have been his personal favorite line of dialogue from the entire game.
The "Itsy-Bitsy" Cut
According to Apostolides, the line was specifically intended for a tense encounter with a spider enemy. Despite the recording session going well and the actor delivering the take in his signature Leon style, the line was ultimately left on the cutting room floor.
"When you fight the spider, I wanted to say – and we recorded it, ‘You know, you’ve been a real itsy-bitsy pain in my ass,'" Apostolides recalled. "It would have been a banger."
The sentiment from the actor mirrors discussions among the player base, with many expressing that the quip would have fit perfectly within the tone of the series. While Capcom has not commented on why the line was removed, its absence is now a point of interest for fans who have enjoyed the game's release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X.
A Look Back at Resident Evil Requiem
Resident Evil Requiem has been a major release for Capcom this year, reaching 7 million copies sold in under two months following its February 27, 2026, release. The title has been widely praised for maintaining the series' trademark scares, even as behind-the-scenes details like this continue to emerge.
Apostolides has been a vocal supporter of the franchise, previously noting in interviews that the fanbase would likely "go ballistic" if Capcom were to move forward with a remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica. For now, the actor's missed opportunity for a spider-themed pun remains one of the few pieces of lore lost to the development process of Requiem.
