Square Enix has provided a first look at how players will get around in Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the highly anticipated conclusion to the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy. In a new teaser video released today, the studio confirmed that the game will feature both aerial and ground-based traversal methods to help players navigate its world.

Highwind and Parachuting Mechanics

The most significant addition revealed is the return of the Highwind. Players will be able to utilize the iconic airship to traverse the map. Once in the air, the game introduces a new mechanic that lets players jump from the vessel and parachute down to their chosen destination, providing a more fluid way to reach specific points of interest.

Chocobo Riding Returns

For ground-based movement, Square Enix confirmed that players will be able to ride Chocobos. The mechanics appear to align with those seen in Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, allowing for efficient travel across the landscape.

Development and Expansion News

Final Fantasy VII Revelation was officially announced during the 2026 Summer Game Fest. Unlike previous installments in the remake series, Square Enix has committed to a simultaneous release across all platforms, ensuring players on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch will have access to the final chapter at the same time.

While the developer has yet to make an official announcement regarding post-launch content, recent activity in the Epic Games database suggests that the game may include a robust post-launch plan. Eagle-eyed users spotted entries for multiple pieces of DLC as well as a potential Story Expansion Pass, though these details remain unconfirmed by Square Enix at this time.

As the final entry in the trilogy approaches, director Naoki Hamaguchi and his team continue to finalize development. Hamaguchi has previously indicated that he plans to pivot toward a new RPG project once the Final Fantasy VII series concludes.
