Machamp Evolution Methods

Once you evolve a Machop into a Machoke at level 28, you can progress to Machamp by trading it in most games. Alternatively, you can use a Linking Cord item in Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Pokémon Sleep. In Arceus, the Linking Cord costs 1,000 MP at the Trading Post, while in Sleep it requires 1,400 sleep points.

Machamp Locations by Game Generation

Machamp acquisition methods vary across different titles:

  • Gen 1 (Red, Blue, Gold, Silver, Crystal): Evolve Machoke. In Yellow, trade a Cubone for Machoke in the Underground Path (Routes 5-6) for an immediate trade evolution.
  • Gen 3–7: In Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, LeafGreen, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, SoulSilver, X, Y, Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon, Let's Go Pikachu, and Let's Go Eevee, evolve Machoke. In Colosseum, XD, Black, and Black 2 / White 2, obtain Machamp via trade.
  • Gen 8 (Sword / Shield): Find Machamp in the Dusty Bowl, Giant's Mirror, North Lake Miloch, Rolling Fields, Stony Wilderness, and South Lake Miloch. In the Isle of Armor, check Ballimere Lake, Frigid Sea, Frostpoint Field, Giant's Bed, and Snowslide Slope. In Legends: Arceus, look in Alabaster Icelands (Arena's Approach) and Coronet Highlands.
  • Gen 9: Unobtainable in Scarlet and Violet. In Legends: Z-A, find it in Centrico Plaza: Wild Zone 20.
