Developer Disc 2 Games has launched a free demo for Canvas City on Steam as of August 24, 2026. The title, which features a turn-based, skate-themed gameplay loop, is currently in active development for both PC and Nintendo Switch.
What to Expect in the Demo
The demo provides a vertical slice of the final game, allowing players to test the mechanics before the official release. Key features included in this early look are:
- Four playable levels
- Six unique characters
- Three distinct character classes
Gameplay centers on performing skate tricks and abilities while managing a follower count, which is used to compete against rival skate crews. The game’s aesthetic and mechanics draw comparisons to titles like Jet Set Radio and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk.
Development Context
Disc 2 Games is receiving development support from Black Salt, the studio behind the indie title Dredge. Canvas City has previously been featured as part of the official selection at the London Games Festival and has appeared at events including PAX East and Frosty Game Fest.
Platform Availability
While the demo is exclusive to PC through Steam, the developers have confirmed that the full version of Canvas City is being built for the Nintendo Switch as well. No specific release date for the full game on either platform has been provided at this time.
