Developer Kenny Sun has released the Naturalist update for BALL x PIT, available now as of August 6, 2026. This content drop serves as the final free update for the roguelike, which is currently available on mobile, Steam Deck, and Nintendo Switch.
New Playable Characters
The update introduces two characters, each offering distinct mechanical playstyles:
- Ballbearer: Forgoes passive items to equip two balls simultaneously.
- Hoary Hoarder: Can carry twice the normal amount of passives, but is limited to only two ball slots.
New Balls and Passives
Players can now unlock 11 additional balls, including the Armageddon ball, which triggers a meteor shower, and the Drill, which strikes enemies from behind. Additionally, five new passives have been added, such as the Remote Detonator—which spawns bombs from defeated enemies—and the Platinum Dumbbell, which increases ball damage until they strike the back wall.
While this concludes the series of free updates that began in early 2026, official documentation suggests that future paid content packs for BALL x PIT may be in development.
