Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Switch 2 Public Debut

The upcoming Gamescom appearance marks the first time the public can play Infinity Ward's Call of Duty title on Nintendo hardware. The playable showing coincides with the start of pre-orders and the opening of the game's beta phase.

Narratively, Modern Warfare 4 picks up after Sledgehammer Games' Modern Warfare 3. Captain Price is pursuing revenge following the death of Soap MacTavish at the hands of Makarov, operating outside the rules with characters like Simon "Ghost" Riley appearing in the mix.

Other Switch 2 Highlights at Gamescom

Alongside Call of Duty, IO Interactive brings its Nintendo console port of 007 First Light to the show floor. Senior licensing producer Theuns Smit noted the port is "in a really good spot," giving players a chance to step into James Bond's shoes as a fresh recruit earning the 00 designation.

Nintendo's Hall 9 booth also features playable versions of EA Sports FC 27, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Splatoon Raiders, Pokémon Pokopia, Orbitals, and Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, alongside tournaments and photo opportunities.
