If you've been following the cryptic lead-up to Phoebe Bridgers' upcoming album, Lost Weekend, you know the indie icon has a penchant for surprises. Today, Bridgers took that energy digital, launching an official endless runner game simply titled Lost Boys to celebrate the release of her new single of the same name.

How to Play Lost Boys

The mechanics are classic endless runner fare. You can move left and right, jump, and perform a powerslide to dodge threats. As you progress, you’ll collect "PB"-branded coins and can snag helpful powerups like an invincibility star, a magnet to pull in coins, and a 2x score multiplier. You start with three hit points, and once those are depleted, your run ends, giving you the chance to submit your name to the global leaderboard.

While the game is accessible on both mobile and desktop, it is worth noting that a keyboard offers significantly smoother control for those aiming for a high score. As the run continues, the game speed increases, though taking damage will reset the pace. Once the speed ramps up, jumping becomes an essential survival tactic for clearing groups of goblins rather than dodging them individually.

The game serves as a fun, interactive companion to the recently released music video for Lost Boys. It even features a chiptune-style 8-bit arrangement of the track to keep you company while you play.

The Road to Lost Weekend

This surprise game drop is just the latest unconventional move from Bridgers ahead of her August 14 album release. The Lost Weekend rollout has been defined by a series of pop-up shows across the country—including a notable event in Bloomington, Indiana—where the use of cell phones was strictly prohibited to keep the performances exclusive. These secret shows eventually culminated in a surprise gig at Madison Square Garden with $1 tickets.

With the single and its game tie-in now live, fans are left wondering what else might be in store before the full album drops in August. In the meantime, you can test your reflexes and see if you can break into the top of the Lost Boys leaderboard.
