Quick Facts

  • Release Date: October 14
  • Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (Steam)
  • Later Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 (date unannounced)
  • Publisher: Big Fan Games

Story and Campaign Details

The retro-style first-person shooter sequel picks up where the original game left off. Players travel to an isolated star system to investigate reports of increased Chaos activity as Ultramarine Malum Caedo and Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath.

The characters soon encounter Vashtorr the Arkifane, a powerful demigod who awakens a vast daemonic machine at the center of the planet. The resulting explosion destroys much of the Imperial fleet, leaving Malum and Nyra to travel from world to world to cleanse corruption and banish the demigod back to the Warp.

Gameplay and Enemies

Boltgun II continues the unrepentant strafing action of its predecessor while introducing an increased variety of weapons. Players will face familiar foes like plague-spreading Nurglings and Chaos Cultists alongside brand-new adversaries, starting with ferocious Bloodletters and their bloodthirsty Juggernauts.

Alongside the release date announcement, Big Fan Games debuted a trailer featuring a first-listen teaser of the original musical track created by guest composer Mick Gordon, whose previous credits include DOOM (2016), DOOM Eternal, and Wolfenstein: The New Order.
