Speaking in an interview with CNBC, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that consumer preorders for GTA 6 are heavily skewed toward the premium tier, though both the $80 Standard Edition and the $100 Ultimate Edition are actively selling. Zelnick noted that this behavior reflects the enthusiasm of the most eager players making up the early purchasing audience.
Market research from Sensor Tower analyst Karl Kontus substantiated those statements with specific regional figures. On Xbox, 90 percent of GTA 6 preorders went to the $100 Ultimate Edition, while 88.5 percent of PlayStation buyers selected the same premium package. Kontus stated that a 90 percent premium share is unprecedented for game preorders, which typically hover between 10 and 20 percent for higher-priced bundles.
What Comes in the $100 Ultimate Edition?
The higher price tag for the Ultimate Edition includes a substantial package of in-game content. Buyers receive multiple vehicles, a dedicated garage, two mod shops, unique weapons, a boat, apparel items, and dozens of exclusive tattoos.
Despite the current dominance of the premium tier, analysts expect the sales split to equalize closer to the November 19 launch as a broader consumer base places orders in the final release week. Take-Two has indicated that price reductions or holiday discounts are unlikely in the near term.
