Netflix is closing two of its internal video game studios, Night School Studio and Moonloot, as part of a wider series of organizational changes. Night School, which developed Oxenfree, was acquired by Netflix in 2021. Just six weeks ago, the studio released Unhinged, a first-person horror game currently available to Netflix subscribers.

Moonloot, a studio based in Helsinki that was founded in 2022, is also being shut down. In addition to these studio closures, Netflix is laying off staff within its broader internal games division. A company spokesperson confirmed the shift, stating, "We see an opportunity to be more focused in our execution, so we are making organizational changes to the business to match those priorities."
What Remains Unknown
While the closure of Night School Studio and Moonloot is confirmed, the exact scale of the layoffs at Netflix's internal games team has not been disclosed. The company has expressed gratitude to the departing employees but has not provided further details regarding the future of the internal games division's structure or specific project pipelines.
