In a statement released by the union, representatives indicated that the company expects employees to treat the job cuts as a finalized decision. OneBGS leadership stated, "The company wants us to accept this as a done deal and quietly disappear. We won’t let that happen. Our next steps are to mobilize."
The union is calling for total member participation to demonstrate a unified front to management. The goal of the protest is to ensure that current employees are properly supported and to deter the company from pursuing similar layoffs in the future. "We need to show management right now that we mean business, so they will properly take care of our fellow co-workers today and think twice before ever attempting something like this again," the union added.
