Enter the revamped 17-chapter Basic Training

Platforms: Windows PC, PlayStation, XboxUpdated Evidence checked

PUBG’s Update 42.2 replaced the basic onboarding flow with a step-by-step, 17-chapter tutorial. Enter it from Play > Training > Basic Training. An NPC partner accompanies you and gives voice and radio-message guidance. The developer describes about ten minutes as the intended completion time, not a timer that removes the need to complete the objectives. [1]

Steps

  1. Open Play > Training > Basic Training and follow the NPC partner’s guidance as you work through the current chapter. [1]

Complete movement, landing, weapons and looting objectives

Platforms: Windows PC, PlayStation, XboxUpdated Evidence checked

The first six chapters cover movement; boarding the plane and parachute landing; acquiring a weapon and ammunition, reloading and aiming; an initial enemy-elimination stage; looting a death box and attaching equipment; and another elimination stage. Complete every item on the current checklist to move forward. If eliminated, that chapter starts again, rather than progressing because an earlier item was completed. [1]

Steps

  1. Finish all the listed objectives in each chapter before expecting the next one. When a chapter restarts after elimination, use its checklist to repeat the required actions. [1]

Continue through survival, supplies and team-play chapters

Platforms: Windows PC, PlayStation, XboxUpdated Evidence checked

Chapters 7–12 teach avoiding the Blue Zone, throwables, armor, healing and boosts, radio messages and care-package supplies. The final five cover another elimination stage, reviving a teammate, retrieving a Blue Chip, driving and recalling a teammate at a Blue Chip Tower, then a final elimination stage. Follow the chapter order instead of replacing the tutorial with older AI-match onboarding instructions. [1]

Steps

  1. Use the NPC guidance to complete the survival and team-play checklist, including the revive, Blue Chip retrieval and Blue Chip Tower recall chapters. [1]

Return to the lobby for the chapter’s rank-based reward

Platforms: Windows PC, PlayStation, XboxUpdated Evidence checked

Each cleared chapter awards a score based on checklist results and a Clear Rank of B, A, S or S+. Returning to the lobby after completing the chapter grants its reward based on that rank. The developer says the ranks encourage repeated play, so replaying can be used to gauge readiness without confusing these rewards with the separate daily Beginner Training missions. [1]

Steps

  1. After clearing the chapter, return to the lobby to receive the reward tied to its Clear Rank. [1]

Keep Beginner Training’s daily missions and deadline separate

Platforms: Windows PC, PlayStation, XboxUpdated Evidence checked

Beginner Training is opened from its own menu at the top of the lobby and is available to all players, including returning ones. It starts when a player first enters the lobby after Update 42.2 and supplies new missions daily through Day 14. Missions must be completed within 30 days of starting, after which rewards cannot be claimed. Each daily mission grants a reward, with an additional reward for completing the whole day’s set. [1]

Steps

  1. If you also want the daily mission rewards, open Beginner Training from the lobby and complete and claim the mission set within its 30-day window. [1]
