Steam public test build; availability depends on an open test
The PTB is available through Steam. Open Dead by Daylight’s Properties from your Steam library, choose Betas, and select the Public Test Build. If the option is missing, the official FAQ says a test is likely not currently running.
What to do: Check the test announcement before switching builds. A PTB patch-note publication does not establish that the test is still open.
Why does my progress look different on the PTB?
Test save data versus your live account
The test build uses a copy of your live save from several days earlier. That can make recent progress appear missing. The official FAQ says switching back restores your progress to its state before joining the PTB.
What to do: Keep test-build findings separate from live-build guidance. Use the support site’s Live Patch Notes section to check released changes.
