A new update for Dead by Daylight has arrived, bringing targeted adjustments to The Slasher, a new survivor perk, and the kickoff of the Summer Screams event. The patch addresses several balance concerns and resolves a wide range of bugs across multiple game modes.
Killer and Perk Adjustments
The Slasher has received a minor mechanical change: the jump scare anti-camp penalty no longer applies across multiple floors. Alongside this, several of The Slasher's add-ons have been tuned:
- Sauna Rock: Exhaustion duration reduced to 3 seconds (was 13).
- Two Nails: Aura reveal duration reduced to 5 seconds (was 6).
- Mirror Shards: Broken status effect increased to 40 seconds (was 30).
- Toxic Waste: Oblivious range increased to 10 meters (was 8).
- Sleeping Bag: Detection range increased to 10 meters (was 8).
- Party Noisemaker: Aura reveal range reduced to 28 meters (was 32).
Survivors gain access to the new Cross-Examination perk. When in the killer’s terror radius without being chased, survivors can see light marks left by the killer. Standing on these marks grants the 'Elusive' status for 3/4/5 seconds.
Summer Screams Event Schedule
The Summer Screams event features three rotating game modes, each active for one week. Players can complete event-specific quests for rewards during this period:
- Chaos Shuffle: July 28 – August 4
- Lights Out: August 4 – August 11
- 2v8: August 11 – August 18
The Lights Out mode has received quality-of-life improvements, including better visibility for pallets, vaults, and breakable walls while holding a lantern, as well as persistent lighting for gate interaction points once objectives are completed.
Bug Fixes and Stability
This update includes extensive fixes for audio issues, such as corrected voice lines for The Walking Dead characters and resolved audio triggers for survivors exiting gates. Map-specific issues were also addressed, including a navigation fix for The Nurse in Toba Landing and pathing corrections in Treatment Theater.
Notably, the developers reverted a previous fix regarding The Skull Merchant's drones. The drones may now disappear after deployment if outside the vertical range for anti-camp; the team notes this is unintended and remains under investigation. Additionally, players should be aware that Stake Out tokens are currently being consumed by Snap Out of It skill checks when facing The Doctor—a bug slated for a future release.
