Cygames has confirmed that a major quality-of-life update is coming to the English version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby. As part of the game’s 1.5-year anniversary celebrations, the developer is introducing two features previously exclusive to the Japanese version of the mobile title.

The most significant addition is "Independent Training." This feature allows players to complete training runs in the background in real time. According to the development team, this will function even when the app is closed or while a player is navigating other menus within the game. A single training run through this automated system is expected to take approximately 50 minutes.

Understanding the New Autoplay Mechanics

While the prospect of hands-off training has generated buzz, there is a clear distinction between this new mode and existing mechanics. In the Japanese version of Umamusume, players have access to multiple types of autoplay. Some versions require the game to remain open and allow for more frequent input on races and events.

The Independent Training feature arriving in the English version is the newer, more automated iteration. Because it offers fewer choices during the training process, it is expected to serve as a tool for daily missions and fan farming rather than a replacement for manual play. Players looking to optimize high-end, competitive builds will likely still prefer the manual training route to ensure they can make every critical decision themselves.

Visual Upgrades for Steam Users

Alongside the training updates, the developer announced that the Steam version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby is receiving technical improvements. Players can expect 60 FPS support for concert performances in an upcoming patch, with 4K resolution support scheduled for release shortly after. Cygames noted that the frame rate increase is intended to make stage performances appear smoother, while the 4K support will enhance facial details and outfit textures.

The mobile gaming hit continues to expand its reach, having recently secured a win at The Game Awards. While Cygames has not yet provided a specific release date for the anniversary update, the company confirmed that these features are part of a broader commitment to bringing content parity to the English version of the game throughout 2026.
