A solo indie developer has reported that Google’s Gemini AI disclosed specific, unreleased details about their game, Operation Octo, despite that information existing only within a private Google Doc. The developer, known as KlubKofta, claims the AI correctly identified a character name, “Vantage Tripod,” which had not been shared publicly.

According to the developer, the leak occurred when a player prompted the Gemini AI with questions about the game. While the AI initially provided general information, it eventually produced the specific character name. The developer asserts that this information was stored exclusively in a private Google Doc and had never been mentioned online, leaving the source of the AI's knowledge unclear.
Google's Stance
In a statement provided to Polygon, Google denied that its AI tools access private user data for training purposes. The company stated, "Google does not scan your private Workspace content (which includes Drive and Docs) to train our foundational AI models (including Gemini)."
Google noted that information could potentially be indexed if links to documents were shared publicly elsewhere, allowing search engine crawlers to access the content. However, the developer maintains that the document in question was never shared in a public forum.
