Embark Studios has officially pulled back the curtain on the future of THE FINALS. For the first time since the game’s 2023 launch, the developers have provided a clear look at what players can expect throughout 2026. While the studio notes that plans are subject to change, the Year 3 roadmap outlines a strategy focused on creative themes, technical refinements, and core gameplay evolution across three distinct seasons.

Season 10: Magic and Mechanics

The year kicked off on March 26 with the launch of Season 10, which introduced a fantasy-inspired "myths and magic" theme. The update brought the new medieval-style Point Break map, Starlight Hollow, and added significant variety to the Medium build’s arsenal with the Shockwave Specialization, the Chimera-XB Crossbow, and the Hover Pad.

Beyond new gear, Season 10 prioritized accessibility and technical polish. Embark introduced THE FINALS Academy—a collection of short videos designed to teach players core tactics and mechanics—alongside improvements to controller input, the ping system, and the communications wheel. The match experience also saw a refresh, with the addition of a reworked Match Recap and an MVP display.

Season 11: Refining the Melee Meta

Looking ahead, Season 11 is set to overhaul the game’s close-quarters combat. The update will introduce a new melee system built around "Precision" and "Stamina." This change is intended to make melee encounters more skill-dependent, rewarding players who land accurate strikes rather than those relying on rapid, indiscriminate swinging.

In addition to the combat changes, Season 11 will bring:

  • A new Cashout map, Galaxy Estates.
  • Additional maps for the Point Break and TDM game modes.
  • Cashout bot matches.
  • A new Limited Time Mode (LTM).
  • New player cards per contestant and personal performance bonuses in Ranked.
  • An expanded onboarding experience and further additions to the Academy.

Season 12: Evolving the Gameshow Fantasy

According to Gustav Tilleby, Season 12 is positioned to be the most ambitious update of the year. The goal is to refine the core vision of THE FINALS, moving closer to the intended experience by strengthening the "gameshow" fantasy that defines the game's identity.

The studio has outlined several pillars for this final 2026 update:

  • Expanded Gameplay: Introducing more depth and choice in player agency.
  • Destruction and Dynamism: Making the environments more reactive and readable during chaotic matches.
  • Visual Upgrades: Enhancing the overall look of arenas and environments.
  • Progression: Ensuring that every match feels like part of a cohesive journey throughout the season.

As the year progresses, Embark Studios plans to share more specific details on the upcoming content drops for Seasons 11 and 12.
