The Dota 2 Esports World Cup 2026 has arrived in Paris, bringing 24 of the world's best teams together to compete for a $2 million prize pool. Running from July 7 to July 19, the tournament serves as a high-stakes battleground where Team Spirit looks to defend the title they claimed in 2025.

Tournament Format and Stages

The competition is split into three distinct phases to narrow down the field from 24 squads to a single champion:

  • Group Stage (July 7-11): Teams are divided into four groups of six. They play in a round-robin format where every series consists of two games. Only the top team from each group advances directly to the playoffs.
  • Survival Stage (July 14-15): The second, third, and fourth-place teams from the Group Stage compete in a single-elimination bracket. Fourth-place teams face third-place teams, with winners moving on to challenge the second-place finishers in best-of-three matches.
  • Playoffs (July 16-19): The four winners from the Survival Stage join the four group winners in a final single-elimination bracket. All matches are best-of-three, culminating in a best-of-five grand final.

Competing Teams and Rosters

The field features a mix of teams invited based on the ESL Pro Tour (EPT) Leaderboard and squads that fought through regional qualifiers. Notable contenders include Team Falcons, the 2025 runners-up, and 1w Team, which recently acquired the former Tundra Esports roster.

Prize Pool Distribution

The tournament rewards top finishers with both cash prizes and club points. The champion will walk away with $750,000 and 1,000 club points, while even the teams finishing in the 21st-24th range receive $7,500.
