PlayStation players are finally getting the chance to revisit two of the most iconic titles in the franchise. Treyarch has officially confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 are coming to PS4 and PS5 on July 9, 2026.
The project is being handled by developer Iron Galaxy in partnership with Treyarch. This marks the first time these titles have been available natively on PlayStation consoles since the PS3 era, bridging a long-standing gap for players who previously watched Xbox users enjoy backward compatibility for years.
Pricing and Content
Both games will be sold separately for $40 each, totaling $80 for the full experience. However, PlayStation Plus subscribers can pick up each title for a discounted price of $20 for a limited time. For those looking to complete their library, the Season Pass is priced at $30, with a further reduction to $10 for PS Plus members. As a bonus, all Personalization Packs for both games will be provided free of charge.
Each port includes the full suite of original content: the complete Campaign, the classic Multiplayer experience, and the beloved Zombies modes. While the games will run on modern dedicated servers, Treyarch has not announced any additional performance enhancements or quality-of-life improvements, as the goal is to maintain the original experience.
Technical Details and File Sizes
Because these are direct ports rather than remasters, players should not expect rebuilt assets or major gameplay overhauls. According to PlayStation Game Size, the download requirements are as follows:
- Black Ops: 24.575 GB on PS4; 20.112 GB on PS5 (Version 01.003.000/1.03)
- Black Ops 2: 22.855 GB on PS4; 21.846 GB on PS5 (Version 01.003.000/1.03)
While the Gaming News cycle often focuses on remakes, these releases aim to preserve the Cold War-era narrative of the original Black Ops and the futuristic conflicts of its sequel exactly as they were in the early 2010s.
