Bethesda has officially confirmed that it is developing remasters for Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. The news arrived via a company blog post addressing the current status of its major franchises, including The Elder Scrolls and Starfield.

Quick Facts

  • Bethesda has confirmed active development on Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas remasters.
  • Fallout 5 remains the studio's long-range goal for the series.
  • The studio is currently managing multiple projects within the Fallout franchise.

Following the popularity of the Fallout television series on Amazon Prime, speculation regarding updates to the older entries in the RPG series had increased significantly. While rumors of potential remasters and shadow-drop releases have circulated for months, this marks the first official acknowledgment from the developer that these titles are being revisited.

Future of the Fallout Franchise

In their statement, Bethesda emphasized that the Fallout series is a high priority for the studio. Addressing the long-term outlook for the series, the developer clarified that while Fallout 5 is their intended long-range destination, the team is currently balancing multiple active projects to address player interest in revisiting the series' history.

"We also know many players want to revisit previous Fallout experiences," the company wrote. "While we’re not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas."

The announcement serves to clarify the studio's pipeline, confirming that resources are being directed toward updating the classic titles rather than exclusively focusing on the next mainline entry in the franchise.
