The comments follow a recent trend of creators streaming from behind the wheel, a practice that has resulted in several high-profile suspensions.
The Argument for Liability
Speaking on August 3, Asmongold expressed concern that a streamer could eventually cause a fatal accident while live. He stated that he believes Twitch should be held liable because the platform has “created an incentive structure” that encourages distracted driving. According to his stance, Twitch is aware of the behavior yet continues to profit from the broadcasts, thereby choosing to ignore the risks involved.
Current Platform Policy
Twitch has implemented specific guidelines regarding driving streams to address safety concerns. The platform currently bans streamers who appear distracted, such as those seen touching their phones or interacting with chat while operating a vehicle. Asmongold, alongside other creators like DansGaming, has previously urged the platform to implement a complete ban on driving streams.
