Survival games often have a reputation for being gritty, unforgiving, and competitive, but behind the scenes, the developers behind the genre's biggest hits are surprisingly friendly. John “Bucky” Buckley, head of publishing and communications at Pocketpair, recently took to Twitter to dispel the idea that there is “bad blood” between studios.
“So many people view survival games as competition to each other, and think there is bad blood,” Buckley wrote. “Actually, we all get along really well because we all have something in common! We love survival games!”
This collaborative spirit has manifested in a new, massive discount package currently live on the Steam Summer Sale. The “Super Survival Summer” bundle collects 10 popular titles, including PalworldV Rising and Windrose offering them at a 25% discount. Instead of the $197.90 price tag for the full set, players can pick up the entire collection for $148.40—or roughly $15 per game.
A Personal Project for Pocketpair
According to Buckley, the bundle is more than just a marketing push; it is a personal project he has been developing since the start of 2026. The intent is to highlight a genre that he clearly holds in high regard, even when faced with the realities of the modern gaming industry.
“It’s nice to remember our ability to survive,” Buckley noted, referencing the recent climate of industry-wide layoffs and price hikes. The bundle, which also features titles like RustValheim and Ark: Survival Evolved is available now through July 9, alongside the rest of the massive Steam Summer Sale.
Advice for Completionists
For players who already own every game in the bundle—a likely scenario given how many of these titles have been internet phenomena—Buckley offered a humorous suggestion on Twitter. When asked what a “valiant survival game soldier” should do if their library is already full, he advised them to “buy it again and gift it to the person you want to punish most in life.”
While the Super Survival Summer bundle is a substantial deal, it is not the only notable discount currently drawing eyes on the platform. Other deals, such as the Binding of Isaac: Rebirth Complete Bundle have been slashed from $50.96 to $5.06, providing some of the most dramatic price drops of the current sale period.
For those looking to expand their survival library, the bundle remains available on Steam as part of the PC gaming storefront’s seasonal event.
