The latest Patch Notes for version 1.6.16.1 and 1.6.16.2 have arrived, bringing a wave of systemic and unit-specific adjustments. The developers have noted that they took several “larger swings” with these balance changes, acknowledging that while some battles may become easier, others will certainly test players’ current strategies.

Major Systemic and Combat Changes

The most significant change in this update is a massive reduction to the Armor Piercing mechanic, which now mitigates armor by 50% instead of the previous 100%. Additionally, the developers have addressed the Game Updates regarding auto-resolve, specifically tweaking cavalry to ensure they don't immediately perish in simulated battles. A bug that previously caused both armies to end an encounter with zero health has also been resolved.

Unit Stat Adjustments

Several units have received performance tweaks to bring them in line with the new balance goals:

  • Dwarves: Across the board, all dwarf units have seen a reduction of 10 armor and 2 melee attack to prevent them from ending runs too frequently.
  • Ashwood Militia: Heavy shields have been downgraded to standard shields, and health has been reduced by 20%.
  • Iron Gut Enforcers & Sons of Fenrir: Both units received melee offensive buffs, with Iron Gut Enforcers increasing weapon strength to 36 and Sons of Fenrir bumping their melee attack to 38.
  • Arquebusiers: Accuracy has been lowered from 50 to 45.
  • Stegoplate Guard: Now correctly equipped with Standard Shields to match their character models.
  • Ashguard: Melee attack has been increased to 44.

Bug Fixes and UI Improvements

Beyond combat balance, the v1.6.16.2 update addresses several technical pain points. Drag-to-reposition mechanics have been fixed for short-distance movements, and enemy squads that were getting stuck without selecting a new target should now function as intended. For players in specific regions, a font issue causing text to be unreadable at higher resolutions in Chinese has been resolved.

UI quality-of-life improvements include a fix for the roadmap display, which will no longer pop up on the main menu every time returning players launch the game. Additionally, duplicate bonuses that were incorrectly stacking in the UI—such as those for outriders and stalwart—have been corrected. Players will also notice that ammunition counts now update correctly in the squad info card on the left side of the screen.
