Frontier Developments has revealed the next major update for its dinosaur management sim: Jurassic World Evolution 3: Rebirth. As the largest expansion to date for the title, Rebirth shifts the focus to a secret series of research sites on Île Saint-Hubert, set entirely before the events of the blockbuster film Jurassic World Rebirth.

⚡ Quick Facts
  • Release Date: June 16, 2026
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC
  • Setting: Île Saint-Hubert (prequel timeline)
  • Developer: Frontier Developments

A New Perspective on the Timeline

Senior Game Writer Ian Bousher confirmed that the expansion acts as a narrative bridge, exploring the origins of species seen in the film—including the elusive Distortus rex. Unlike the base game, where players act as high-level directors, Rebirth places you in the role of a regular worker on Île Saint-Hubert. This shift in rank is designed to foster a more grounded relationship with two new colleagues: Callie, a wry and pessimistic dinosaur behaviourist, and Dale, an easy-going engineer focused on the new Geothermal Power mechanics.

Fans of the franchise will also see the return of Lily Halford. Acting as the island’s Director of Operations, this version of Lily provides insight into the events that shaped her character before the base game’s campaign. According to Bousher, Lily is noticeably uncomfortable with the experimental nature of the work being conducted at these secret sites.

Three Unique Research Sites

The expansion is split across three distinct locations, each tied to specific lore from the film:

  • The Ancient Valley: Inspired by the film’s Titanosaurus scene, this area focuses on the scale and natural beauty of the island.
  • The Riverside Laboratory: A high-stakes environment where players must test the hunting capabilities of a T. rex by introducing specific prey, such as the Parasaurolophus.
  • The Main Facility: The center of the action and the site of the prologue, where players are immediately tasked with containing a rampaging Mutadon—a unique hybrid of Velociraptor and pterosaur.

The expansion forces players to grapple with the ethics of science gone too far, allowing for the creation of highly experimental dinosaur traits not found in the base game. By breeding specific herds and managing these experimental projects, players are essentially setting the stage for the events seen on the big screen.

Jurassic World Evolution 3 is currently available on Xbox and PC via Game Pass, with the Rebirth expansion arriving on June 16.
