Battlefield Studios is rolling out the final phase of Season 3 content for Battlefield 6 on June 30. The "High-Value Target" update brings a significant overhaul to the game's netcode, core gunplay mechanics, and vehicle balance, alongside a new limited-time event and additional multiplayer modes.
- Update Release: June 30, 2026
- Key Additions: Tactical Obliteration, Casual Battle Royale, Wet Work Event
- Free Trial: June 30 – July 6, 2026
- Focus: Netcode stability and weapon ballistic tuning
Netcode and Combat Readability
A primary goal of this update is to address ongoing concerns regarding combat feedback and server-side hit registration. Developers stated that players should see fewer instances of dying behind cover, thanks to improved bandwidth prioritization and better handling of simultaneous damage events. Additionally, hit confirmations will now appear faster, and blood effects will no longer trigger on shots that fail to register as hits on the server.
Gunplay and Weapon Ballistics
The studio is shifting the meta toward more deliberate aim and weapon mastery. Key adjustments include:
- Increased Bullet Drag: Increased by 40% globally, and 100% when using Match Grade ammo.
- Muzzle Velocity: Decreased for the majority of primary weapons to make leading moving targets a more essential skill.
- Recoil Variation: Reduced across the entire weapon pool to provide more predictable behavior during sustained fire.
- Bolt-Action Rifles: "Sweet spot" ranges have been significantly narrowed to force more strategic positioning. For example, the L115 range has been cut from 120-175m down to 100-133m.
New Content and Events
The update introduces the Wet Work Event which tasks players with completing high-stakes objectives across both Battlefield 6 and Redsec. Alongside this, the developer is adding Tactical Obliteration a smaller-team mode centered on bomb-carrying objectives, and a Casual Battle Royale mode that incorporates AI bots to provide a more accessible entry point for players. Players can also unlock the new EOD Bot Arm melee weapon.
Vehicle Combat Tuning
Vehicle balance receives a series of tweaks following the start of Season 3. Attack helicopter heavy rockets have seen a damage increase against all vehicle types, and the RPG-7V2 is now more effective against tanks and helicopters. Conversely, Thermal Smoke has been nerfed; it no longer removes C-4 explosives, and its damage mitigation cap has been reduced from 75% to 100% effectiveness.
Players looking to test these changes can take advantage of the Battlefield 6 free trial running from June 30 through July 6, which includes access to the "Railway to Golmud" map and the "Cairo Bazaar" redesign.
