Microsoft has announced four new features for Xbox consoles, with most rolling out first to Alpha Skip-Ahead Xbox Insiders. Among the updates are two highly-requested additions: the ability to record party chat in video captures and a system for managing older cloud saves.
New Features for Xbox Consoles
The latest update includes a mix of quality-of-life improvements aimed at content creation, achievement tracking, and data management. While three of these features are currently in the testing phase for Alpha Skip-Ahead Insiders, the expanded wishlist is available to all players immediately.
Key Updates
- Party Chat in Captures: Players can now choose to include party chat or game chat audio in their video recordings. This is an opt-in feature, requiring participants in a party to grant permission for their audio to be captured.
- Cloud Save Restoration: For select titles, such as Forza Horizon 6, users can now browse and restore older versions of their cloud saves. This allows players to recover progress if a save file becomes corrupted. You can find this option under Manage game & add-ons > Saved data > Restore saved data.
- Achievement Filters: The achievement history menu now allows users to sort games by name, completion percentage, Gamerscore earned, or the total number of achievements unlocked, moving beyond the default 'last played' view.
- Expanded Wishlist: The limit for games on your Xbox wishlist has been increased to 1,000 titles. This update is currently live for all players.
These features are expected to roll out to the general public in the coming weeks and months following the initial Insider testing period.
