Party-Based Deckbuilding
Unlike traditional deckbuilders that focus on a single protagonist, Rogue Reigns requires players to manage a party of three heroes simultaneously. Each character brings a unique deck, specific abilities, and a distinct role to the battlefield. Success in the game relies on identifying synergies between these three characters and managing party composition to overcome procedural 3D environments.
The game also introduces a mechanic called "The Stalker," an unseen presence that tracks the player's party throughout each run, causing the game world to react to its proximity before the threat fully emerges.
Development and Playtesting
The São Paulo-based developer, Venn Studios, has leveraged its background in deckbuilder analysis—previously built through a dedicated YouTube channel—to inform the design of Rogue Reigns. According to CEO Hugo Neri, the team has focused on ensuring that every strategic decision significantly impacts the outcome of a run.
Players interested in an early look can participate in the ongoing Steam playtest. The test is scheduled to run for one week, concluding on September 3, 2026, providing developers with feedback on combat mechanics, character synergies, and party compositions ahead of the October launch.
