Hello Games has reached the 10-year anniversary of No Man's Sky, which first released on PlayStation 4 on August 9, 2016. To mark the milestone, studio founder Sean Murray provided an update on both the status of the long-running space exploration title and the studio's next project, Light No Fire.

Project Status: Light No Fire

Despite being revealed at The Game Awards in 2023, Light No Fire has remained largely out of the public eye. Murray confirmed the project remains in active development, stating that the team is “busy cooking” the game in the background. While no new footage or release window was provided, the developer reiterated the game's core premise: a procedurally generated, earth-sized open world where players can meet, build, and survive together on a single planet.

No Man's Sky: The COSMOS Update

The studio continues to support No Man's Sky, which has received 40 major updates since its launch. Murray announced that the next content drop for the game will be titled “COSMOS.” While specific features for the update were not detailed, it continues the studio's decade-long commitment to free, evolving content. The game is currently available across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

"Since then, millions of players have made No Man's Sky their home... In a similar way our small team feels we have a lot left to explore in what No Man's Sky can be." — Sean Murray
