Sony and Arrowhead Game Studios have brought Helldivers 2 to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. Subscribers to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium now have unfettered access to the satirical shooter as part of their membership.

The addition arrives alongside the game's major new content drop, Devoid of Liberty. In this update, the Illuminate have expanded their war front with the Void, bringing strange mutations to liberty-deprived planets.

Quick Facts

  • Platform availability: PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X
  • Subscription access: Available via PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for Extra and Premium tiers
  • New update: Devoid of Liberty is live now

What Changed in the Devoid of Liberty Update

Players venturing into the Void will face new secondary objectives, such as eradicating Void mutations, extracting research materials, and opening secondary extraction zones for faster exfiltration. The update also introduces Super Earth Armed Forces (SEAF) as a planet modifier. SEAF units join Helldivers in combat and provide tactical support with stim pistols and heavy machine guns.

Arrowhead outlined two major enemy variants introduced with the Void mutations:

  • The Crusher: A relentless enemy capable of regenerating while taking heavy damage, requiring constant and consistent pressure.
  • The Wretch: A nimble opponent that dodges and leaps at players to disrupt weapons and combat effectiveness.

Affected Players and Subscription Tiers

The game's arrival in the catalog applies directly to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members on PlayStation 5, who can play the game without purchasing a separate copy. Players on the base PlayStation Plus Essential tier do not receive access to the game through their subscription. Helldivers 2 remains available for purchase on Windows PC and Xbox Series X.
