A massive new update for the PS5's fastest growing open world is set to arrive on 19th August, bringing a surprisingly diverse slate of activities to the sandbox, including beach volleyball, jet skis, and construction work.

Quick Facts

  • Release Date: 19th August
  • Platform: PlayStation 5
  • Key Additions: Beach volleyball, jet ski races, construction work, and an Initial D-style drift racing island
  • New Playable Characters: Zankou and Linko

New Vehicles, Outfits, and Map Expansion

Developed by Hotta Studio, the update expands the open world map with a brand-new island tailored for cars. Featuring hairpin bends and street races, this zone lets players access all map collectibles directly via vehicle. Jet ski races are also being integrated as a new open-world event, alongside a newly purchasable bicycle and a jet ski vehicle obtainable through a new blind box gacha.

Two new playable characters, Zankou and Linko, join the gacha lineup alongside personal social interactions. Both newcomers and existing units will receive new outfits unlockable via gameplay, in-game credit, or the blind box gacha, complete with a new random outfit toggle to cycle through options.

Minigames, Properties, and Progression

The beach volleyball minigame introduces depth by requiring players to select partners who level up their skills through play, leading into weekly tournaments that award Fons in-game currency. Meanwhile, construction work provides a new way to spend City Stamina via minigames focused on building up Heathereau.

Players can also purchase a new property featuring a garden to grow and sell crops. Additional updates include combat-focused progression for the previous update's fantasy RPG mode, continuation of the main storyline involving The Scarlet Letter, and developer teasers for a theme park location on the horizon in a later update.
