A sequel to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is officially in development at a new studio founded by the original game's director, following leadership changes and staffing shifts at initial developer Leenzee.
Quick Facts
- Project: A sequel to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is currently in development.
- New Studio: The project is being led by the original game's director and producer, Xia Siyuan, at a newly formed studio.
- Original Release: Leenzee developed the original game, which launched last year and achieved a 74 Metacritic score across all formats.
Leadership Changes and the New Project
The development shift follows turbulence earlier this year. Reports from Chinese publication Gamersky in April claimed that director and producer Xia Siyuan had been fired from Leenzee. According to those reports, a large portion of the development team was laid off after declining to switch to an outsourcing business model. Following his departure, Xia formed a new studio to continue making games, leading directly to the current work on the Wuchang Fallen Feathers sequel.
Reception of the Original Game
The original action title, created by Chinese studio Leenzee, landed to generally positive reception upon its release, holding a 74 Metacritic score across all formats. While Leenzee handled the first installment, the creative leadership behind the project is carrying the intellectual property forward into the newly announced follow-up project.
