Unconfirmed reports suggest that a World of Warcraft game master may have given an unfair advantage to a player group by instantly killing an enemy in a Mythic dungeon. Discovered by Reddit user u/Acrobatic_Pianist688 and tracked via Warcraft Logs, the incident centers on a PC run through the Nexus Point Xenas dungeon on Mythic difficulty with a +23 key.
What the Logs Show
According to data on Warcraft Logs, the group was running tight on time during their +23 key attempt. Trash mobs before the final boss, Lothraxion, were cleared at the 27:57 mark in a 30-minute timed run. Combat logs indicate the final enemy was defeated using an ability titled 'Area Death (TEST),' featuring the tooltip 'Kills all enemies in a 30 yard radius. Cheater.' The action was reportedly tied to a character named Daijosai, who was not part of the five-person party.
Two streamers from the group—an Evoker named Schizofien (Yara) and a Demon Hunter named Jabuka (Yiesus)—were part of the run alongside a pick-up group Druid tank. While neither was streaming at the time, Yiesus later admitted in an interview with Yumytv that he asked a 'GM friend' to clear the final mob because he hated grinding out repeat keys.
Source Reliability
Rating: 3/5 Stars (Reported)
While Warcraft Logs data clearly displays anomalous test abilities being cast by a non-party character, the primary corroboration comes from a participant's interview rather than an official developer statement. Blizzard community manager Kaivax has acknowledged the situation and stated that developers are taking action, but full verification of the GM's involvement remains pending the conclusion of the internal investigation.
Player Impact
The alleged incident has raised serious concerns among World of Warcraft players regarding the integrity of competitive Mythic+ leaderboards. Because seasons feature in-game rewards tied to high-level timed runs, the community has voiced strong criticism over potential favoritism, demanding clarity on whether past leaderboards or other runs have been similarly compromised.
