Aspyr Media has officially re-released The Lord of the Rings: War in the North - Legacy Edition. Following its removal from digital storefronts in 2019, the 2011 action RPG is now available again for modern hardware, including a PC release that currently holds a 'Very Positive' rating on Steam.

Modern Enhancements
The Legacy Edition updates the original experience with several technical and gameplay modifications. Players can now use a new character hot-swapping feature to control Eradan, Andriel, or Farin on-the-fly, and assign equipment or skills for computer-controlled allies. Other technical additions include refined enemy-target locking, new autosave features, and additional save slots.
For those playing on console, the release includes gyro control support on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. The title also introduces 'Triggering Secrets,' allowing players to see hidden supply caches regardless of which character they are currently controlling.
Future of the Franchise
Beyond this release, Aspyr indicated in a press release that fans can expect additional classic titles from The Lord of the Rings franchise to be released in the future. While the publisher did not confirm which specific games are next, the return of War in the North suggests that previous licensing obstacles for these titles have been resolved.
