Steam users can now organise their massive game backlogs thanks to a fresh update introducing wishlist categories, improved search tools, and shareable lists. Valve announced the changes to give players better ways to manage growing wishlists beyond basic ranking and filtering.

Wishlist Organisation and Customisation
The new categorisation system lets players group titles however they choose. Once categories are established, users can filter their wishlist to view specific groups. When adding a new game to a wishlist, players can assign it directly to a category and adjust individual notification settings for that title.
Sharing has also received an overhaul. The updated wishlist link can be handed out to friends and family, which ties directly into Steam's simultaneous updates to the gifting process.
Expanded Gifting and Guest Checkout
Following the introduction of guest checkout in 2024—which was previously limited to digital gift cards and hardware—users can now purchase any game on Steam using the feature. Friends and family can use shared wishlist links to buy titles for each other.
Additionally, direct gifting to email addresses is now supported. If the recipient uses a different email address for their Steam account, the message includes a link allowing them to sign in and accept the gift. Cross-region gifting has also been enabled, removing geographical barriers for sending games to other users.
