The latest Star Guardians update, dubbed "An Unknown Threat" (Version 1.7), is now live on PC. This patch brings a significant content expansion, headlined by the arrival of the new hero [SSR] Gowther and the continuation of the main storyline.
Quick Facts
- New Hero: [SSR] Gowther (Burst Specialist, Support)
- Main Quest: Act 15
added - New Raid: 'Deep Spider Nest' now available
- New Content: Knighthood Boss Battles and Rankings open July 22
- Platform: PC (Update 1.7)
New Hero and Events
Players can now recruit [SSR] Gowther via the "A Doll Yearning for a Heart" pick-up draw. Gowther is a versatile hero capable of filling three roles depending on the equipped weapon: Burst Specialist (Lightning/Wand), Support (Physical/Grimoire), or Support (Lightning/Staff). The pick-up banner and the associated "A Journey to Find Myself" skin event are active from the July 15 maintenance through August 5, 2026.
During this period, players can also participate in the Gowther Trial Event to earn Star Fragments and Supreme Mastery EXP. Additionally, a 14-day check-in event running until August 26 offers growth materials like Brilliant Engraving Seals and Large Cube Key Bundles.
Story Expansion and New Raids
The narrative moves forward with Main Quest Act 15, "Crisis on the Northern Front," which introduces the "Liones Northern Front" region. Combat-focused players have two new major challenges to tackle:
- Boss Challenge: "[Corrupted] Barbarian Chieftain Durak" is available in Nightmare, Hell, and Abyss difficulties. Defeating this boss provides materials for the "Corroded Desire" armor set and "Oath Talisman Necklace."
- Deep Spider Nest Raid: This new raid, accessible after completing Act 14, offers "Star Fragments" and the "Shadow Spider Breath" equipment. The Abyss difficulty includes the new "Pledge" system, which allows players to increase equipment quality ranges by fulfilling specific conditions.
Knighthood Content
Starting July 22, the game introduces comprehensive Knighthood features, including the Knighthood Boss Battle and updated rankings. Members can challenge the boss up to three times per week to earn cumulative rewards. A dedicated Knighthood Shop has also been added, where players can spend Knighthood Coins on exclusive weapon skins, armor pieces, and growth materials.
System Improvements and Combat Visibility
Version 1.7 implements several quality-of-life adjustments. Perhaps most notably for PC players, the "Battle Support Mode" is now available, and a new "Combat View Assist" setting allows users to render combat effects as transparent to improve visibility during chaotic encounters. The update also expands team formation slots from 5 to 8 and allows players to equip armor and accessories separately for each of a hero's three weapon types.
Finally, the "To the Top: Ranking Season 2" is now open, featuring leaderboards for Boss Challenges and the Timespace Junction. Players who climb the ranks will be eligible for special titles and "Laurels of Glory" once the season concludes on August 5.
