Mega Crit has rolled out a fresh update for Slay the Spire 2 that brings 15 powerful, co-op focused cards to the game's multiplayer mode. The update, which is available now via the Steam beta branch, introduces new tools for all five classes and includes a significant overhaul for how the game handles modded save files.
New Cards and Class Adjustments
The new card pool is designed specifically for cooperative play, adding versatility to each class:
- Ironclad: Gets Midnight, a rare attack dealing 99 (or 120 upgraded) damage that costs less for every card exhausted by any player. Other additions include Blaze, which provides strength to teammates, and Outrage, a zero-energy attack that adds copies of itself to other players' discard piles. The Tank card has also been reworked, now causing the caster to take 50% additional damage rather than double, while allies receive 50% less.
- Silent: Players can now use Blade Symphony to give teammates shivs, Concoct to let allies inflict poison, and Fade to grant temporary Dexterity. Additionally, the Flanking card has been bumped to Rare status.
- Regent: Receives Plot, which allows all players to draw extra cards, and Constellation, which provides an ally with energy, a new card, and Block.
- Necrobinder: Gains support-focused cards like Underworld, which applies Doom based on teammates' damage, and Cacophany, which deals massive damage based on total cards drawn by the group. Legion of Bone is no longer an Exhaustible card.
- Defect: Gets Hibernate for frost-based party blocking, One For All to boost zero-energy attacks, and Imitation Learning to copy teammate powers. Ignition has also been moved to Uncommon rarity.
Perhaps the most chaotic addition is a new colourless card called The Ball. It bounces between players' decks, increasing its damage by 15 (or 25 when upgraded) each time it is played for the duration of the combat.
Modding and Quality of Life
Beyond the new cards, the update addresses several technical pain points. The game now features improved support for copying unmodded saves over to modded ones. However, developers have clarified that saves remain siloed; progress made while using mods will not sync with your unmodded save files, and vice versa.
The patch also includes balance adjustments for solo players, various bug fixes, UI tweaks, and a nerf to enemy Block scaling in two-player sessions. While these changes are currently live on the beta branch, they are expected to hit the main Steam branch soon.
