Facepunch has detailed the latest update for Rust on PC, headlined by a suite of gameplay additions known as Player Maintained Monuments. The update connects the island's monuments through interactive power systems, introduces new map events, adjusts monument efficiency, and rolls out two new DLC packs alongside various performance improvements.
Quick Facts
- Platform: PC
- Release Window: August 2026
- Key Additions: Player Maintained Monuments, Satellite Crash event, Bar Games Pack DLC, Stone Sculpture DLC
Powering Up the Power Plant
The power plant can now be fired back up using new Heavy Fuses found as loot. These fuses must be inserted into special fuse boxes at the monument. Different features require varying numbers of fuses to unlock.
Once power is flowing, roadside transformer poles can provide power for electrical circuits and can be climbed directly without ladders by approaching and jumping. Green recyclers outside safe zones receive a baseline efficiency nerf down to 40% from 50%, but return to 60% with power plant support, and reach 4.5 seconds duration at maximum power. A new red recycler with 75% efficiency is also added to the power plant at maximum power.
Satellite Crash and Monument Interactions
A new in-game event lets players power up the Satellite Control Computer at the Launch Site using tech trash and an aiming module to control a satellite. Players use thruster buttons to target a crash location, which descends for all server players to see and yields new satellite loot crates.
Running the power plant also enables a switch on the Large Oil Rig to pump crude oil to Dome for 20 minutes, requiring a Tanker vehicle module and a car lift to extract. A Small Oil Rig switch operates at half the rate, and both can run simultaneously for 1.5x crude. Meanwhile, the Supermarket features a powered freezer providing steady chilled food and occasional larger food caches.
Water Treatment Plant production requires maintaining gearbox valves using power plant grids and consumed gears to pressurize the central water tank and clear roadside water pipe blockages. Oxum's gas station car garage gains power-grid or backup-generator support for its doors, car lift, and an underground cave leading to higher quality car part spawns.
At the Airfield terminal tower, a smaller terminal increases air drop fall rates when charged, while a larger terminal calls in a Chinook resupply crate near the tarmac.
Paid DLC and Item Additions
The Bar Games Pack DLC introduces deployable, real-time playable Pool Tables and Dart boards for solo and multiplayer use. It also includes an interactive Jukebox, mini fridge and shotgun trap skins, bar stools, wallpapers, and sprays. The Stone Sculpture Item DLC lets players carve away at stone to create custom shapes.
Balance, Economy, and Quality of Life
Ore nodes and woodpiles no longer spawn in safe zones to prevent global spawn population drain. The Wolf Headdress crafting requirement is now locked behind a Tier 1 workbench, and Lunar New Year animal masks function as skins to reduce menu clutter. High external walls now carry a static upkeep cost of 20% to curb spamming, and water well vendor stock is reduced from 10 to 2 with a 10-minute restock time to limit early-game progression exploits.
Performance and Modding Updates
Startup loading times are improved by loading only essential assets for the main menu first. Server performance sees parallel entity saving added to experimental UsePlayerUpdateJobs 4 mode, and a new pool implementation named LPRQ replaces FuzzyPool to eliminate high-contention memory leaks. For modders, SetFlag is deprecated in favor of a disposable pattern ahead of the September 3, 2026 wipe.
