Adapting PS2 Maps for PC
While Threewave Software developed the original prologue released on Xbox and PS2, separate studios handled the two console ports. Due to lower memory and technical limitations on the PS2, those versions differed significantly from the Xbox port. According to the development team, the PS2 version appeared more definitive in certain respects despite technical constraints.
To avoid a direct port that would look poor on modern monitors, the developers applied the PS2 changes on top of the existing Xbox maps. This approach lets the levels display at higher visual quality on PC, establishing what the team views as the definitive version of the PS2 levels.
Availability
The update is tied exclusively to the RealRTCW mod on PC. The developers noted that an important technical reason dictates this restriction, with plans to share more details later. Players can access the content on PC via Steam and GOG, alongside full Linux compatibility through Proton and Wine.
