Alkimia Interactive has announced a suite of upcoming features for the Gothic 1 Remake, including a dedicated photo mode, a developer-style debug tool, and an official mod kit. The studio confirmed these additions during a THQ Nordic publisher showcase, noting that the updates will follow a period of initial bug fixes and performance polish.
New Features and Debug Tools
The most notable addition is "Marvin Mode," an official implementation of the debug features found in the original Gothic. The mode acts as a sandbox for players, allowing them to teleport, spawn items, and manipulate game entities. The name is a reference to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, maintaining the tradition of the series' original debug functionality.
Additionally, the developers are introducing:
- Photo Mode: Tools to capture the game's vertical, detailed landscapes.
- Official Mod Kit: Dedicated support for community-created content.
- Alternative Progression Systems: New, currently unspecified mechanics intended to supplement character growth.
Future Development Plans
Beyond the immediate updates for the Gothic 1 Remake, Alkimia Interactive signaled that they are already working on a new project. The team confirmed they intend to formally announce this next title at the publisher showcase scheduled for 2027.
While the studio has not explicitly named their next project, industry speculation points toward a remake of Gothic 2. For now, the team is focusing on refining the current remake, with developers emphasizing that the team is committed to the title following its recent launch.
