Valve previously released files allowing owners to 3D print their own replacement faceplates, but community member /u/GinoWT has bypassed plastic entirely to work with natural stone.
The maker showcased three distinct stone faceplates on Reddit, including Statuario sourced from Carrara—noted as the exact same quarry basin Michelangelo used. Additional designs were cut from Sahara Noir, featuring a distinct gold stripe, and Roman Travertine.
How the Marble Faceplates Are Built
Working with stone on a compact hardware chassis presents weight and structural challenges. Each individual slab is cut to a thickness of 5 to 6 millimeters and bonded directly onto a 3D-printed faceplate base. According to the creator, this thin profile is necessary to keep the mini PC's weight down and prevent the stone from cracking.
When attached, the contrasting stone textures—particularly the white Statuario marble—pop against the stock black chassis of the Valve system.
