The development team behind Once Human has detailed significant adjustments to the survival game's fashion set custom dye feature following player feedback regarding operation steps and billing costs. The upcoming changes, outlined in a recent developer blog, address complaints about tedious section-by-section dyeing and high overall expenses.

Quick Facts

  • Game: Once Human
  • Platform: PC (via Steam)
  • Update Date: August 24
  • Key Changes: Component-level consumption logic, ~60% price reduction, and a 60% currency refund for existing items

Consumption Logic and Pricing Overhaul

Launched on July 9, the initial Once Human fashion set custom dye feature divided each clothing piece into multiple sections, charging players separately for every section and color applied. Because fashion sets often featured over a dozen distinct sections, the process proved tedious and expensive for players trying to customize an entire outfit.

In response, the August 24 update shifts the consumption logic from "charging after dyeing individual sections" to "charging after dyeing individual components." Players can freely mix and match colors on a top or other clothing piece without paying separate fees for each individual detail section. Charges will calculate based on the highest-tier color used within that component.

Alongside this structural shift, overall pricing is dropping by roughly 60% across basic, advanced, and rare color tiers. For instance, the estimated full-set price for six parts drops from 2,250 Colorful Badges down to 900 for basic colors, while advanced and rare Crystgin-based full sets drop from 1,800 to 720 and 3,600 to 1,440 respectively.

Player Compensation and Future Dye Sets

To protect the investments of players who utilized the system under the old rules, the developers are issuing a uniform refund. Because tracking exact differences for every set is complex, players will receive a direct refund of 60% of the currency they previously consumed. Existing dye effects will remain unchanged.

Refunds will be distributed automatically via in-game mail within three business days following the August 24 update. Furthermore, the development team confirmed that a September update will gradually introduce more dyeable sets across a wider range of rarities.
