NetEase Games and Starry Studio have officially announced that the supernatural survival game Once Human is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on August 25. The console release follows the game's initial 2024 launch on PC, marking a significant expansion for the title.
Quick Facts
- Launch Date: August 25 (PT)
- Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
- New Features: First-person perspective, full cross-play and cross-progression
- Performance: 4K/60 FPS (Quality Mode) and 120 FPS (Performance Mode)
Console-Specific Features and Content
The console version of Once Human aims to leverage the hardware of current-gen systems with a new first-person perspective, designed to better utilize 4K displays. Players will be able to toggle between third-person and first-person views at any time. Additionally, the developers have integrated controller-specific haptic feedback, including distinct rumble patterns for enemy encounters, tactile feedback for loot drops, and adjustable trigger resistance during boss fights.
At launch, players will have access to six scenarios and a PvP spin-off mode. According to the studio, this content provides more than 300 hours of gameplay. While the console release introduces the first-person mode, the developers have not confirmed if this feature will be brought to the PC version of the game.
Pre-Order Packages
Pre-orders are currently open on the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store with two distinct bundles available:
- Starter Pack ($9.99): Includes a cradle skin, three weapon skins, a 30-day “METAPASS,” a home facility skin, and various profile customization items.
- Radiance Pack ($14.99): Contains everything in the Starter Pack plus three character skins, a premium battle pass, two lottery tokens, and an exclusive avatar frame.
A Growing Multi-Platform Presence
The transition to consoles aligns with a broader strategy from NetEase Games, which has been steadily expanding its footprint on PlayStation and Xbox after establishing its portfolio on PC and mobile. By bringing Once Human to consoles two years after its PC debut, the publisher is looking to extend the game’s lifecycle through cross-platform accessibility, allowing friends to play together regardless of their chosen hardware.
