Valve has rolled out the SteamOS 3.8.25 Beta, introducing a broad set of improvements covering the Steam Machine, the Steam Frame Wireless Adapter, and expanded compatibility for various third-party handheld devices.

Steam Machine and General Improvements
For Steam Machine users, Firmware 108 addresses specific sleep-state behavior, fixing an issue where the system could occasionally wake up immediately after going to sleep, alongside a rare bug where CPU performance dropped until a reboot following sleep recovery.
General updates include added support for waking up from the 2015 Steam Controller Wireless Adapter and preliminary support for the Steam Frame Wireless Adapter. The update also integrates the new Steam Controller (2026) into the built-in hid_steam driver, allowing use with native controller applications when Steam isn't running.
Expanded Third-Party Handheld Support
SteamOS continues to widen its hardware reach. The beta adds initial gamepad support for the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+, Konkr FIT, and AYANEO Pocket S2, while updating firmware gamepad support for the OneXPlayer Apex. Support has also been improved for MSI Claw and OneXPlayer device variants, alongside devices featuring external or no Wi-Fi adapters.
How to Switch Channels
Because this update is currently in beta, users must manually opt into it via Settings > System > System Update Channel. Developer Pierre-Loup Griffais noted that users can update to the beta to grab newer firmware and later revert to the stable channel if desired, as the firmware updates will persist.
