Activision has scheduled two beta weekends for Modern Warfare 4 in August 2026, offering players a chance to test multiplayer modes, weapons, and maps before the full game arrives on October 23. The beta period begins immediately following the Call of Duty: NEXT showcase.
Beta Schedule and Access
The beta is split into two distinct phases. Weekend one is reserved for early access, while weekend two is open to all players on all supported platforms.

How to Get Early Access
To participate in the first beta window (Aug. 21–25), you must preorder the Standard or Vault Edition of Modern Warfare 4. This offer applies to the following platforms:
- Xbox Series X/S
- PlayStation 5
- PC (via Battle.net, Xbox on PC, or Steam)
Confirming your preorder also grants access to the game's campaign during the early access period.
Nintendo Switch 2 Participation
Nintendo Switch 2 players have a different path to the beta. Preorders for the Switch 2 version open on August 26, but are not required to play the beta. Switch 2 owners can download the client and join the open beta during the second weekend (Aug. 28–Sept. 1). Note that a Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required to play.
What to Expect in the Beta Build
The beta will feature a selection of multiplayer maps and modes, including objective-based staples and new additions like Kill Block and the Training Mobility Course. Players can unlock up to 19 different weapons through progression and will have access to a variety of combat experiences, ranging from 3v3 skirmishes to larger tactical engagements involving vehicles like tanks.
