How to Get Early Access
To jump into the servers as soon as Weekend One goes live on August 21, follow these steps:
- Preorder the game: Purchase either the Standard or Vault Edition of Modern Warfare 4 on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, or PC (via Battle.net, Xbox on PC, or Steam).
- Confirm your platform: Ensure your preorder is linked to your active gaming account. Preordering also grants early access to the game's campaign.
- Download the client: Install the beta files ahead of the August 21 launch to play immediately when servers open.

Nintendo Switch 2 Participation
Nintendo Switch 2 players have a distinct path to the beta. While preorders for the Switch 2 version open on August 26, a preorder is not required to participate:
- Download the beta client for Weekend Two, running from August 28 to September 1.
- Ensure your Nintendo Switch Online subscription is active, as it is required to play the beta on the handheld platform.
What Is Included in the Beta Build
Developed by Infinity Ward with support from multiple studios, the beta build features various tactical modes and maps:
- Maps: Rooftops, Silkworm, Transit 213, Cachette, Lotus, Kill Block, plus the new Warzone Resurgence map Zodiac during the open beta.
- Modes: Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Inflation, Search & Destroy, Kill Block, 10v10, 3v3 Gunfight, and the Training Mobility Course.
- Content: Unlock up to 19 different weapons through progression, play an entrenched campaign mission, and test out tactical vehicle combat with tanks.
