Composer Mick Gordon is bringing his award-winning music for Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal to a festival stage for the very first time, accompanied by a live band and the custom instrument known as the Doom Machine.

Famous for unorthodox methods that included sampling real chainsaw noises to craft the signature guitar riffs of Doom 2016, Gordon has wanted to bring the soundtracks into a live setting for years. Previous efforts and multiple attempts to stage a live performance finally materialized after festival organizer Joe James approached him with an invitation to headline RADAR 2027.
“This isn't a DJ set. It isn't a tribute. It's the music that redefined video game soundtracks, performed live, properly loud, exactly as it deserves,” the festival announced in an Instagram post. Gordon confirmed that visual elements such as fire, screens, and projection mapping are being evaluated to match the scale of the live rock and metal show.
While the concert marks a milestone for fans of the shooter series' musical profile, Gordon's relationship with developer id Software remains a tenuous one following a public falling-out during the release of Doom Eternal. No updates regarding that public dispute have been shared, leaving the technical rights surrounding the live concert arrangement somewhat complicated as preparations for the UK festival get underway.
